Born from trauma and generally disliked across The Wylder, Shades have a rough start to their unique second-life. Ana learned quickly that folk superstition would hold more sway to strangers than her actions ever could, and so lives this new life with an armor made of sarcasm and muscles made of someone else’ flesh. With little concrete knowledge of her life before death, Ana is determined to build a new life for herself with the power behind her own fists.

Or, at least her borrowed ones.

A jovial poppet with a few tricks & trinkets up his sleeve, he carries with him the burdens of an estranged traveler and a secret that could spell his doom. Flynn was gifted and cursed in equal measure with his knack for tinkering, it was just truly unfortunate that the curiosity that drives innovation has led him to pursue arts that are forbidden in these lands. Flynn became an Etch, an artisan capable of inscribing the magic runes of The Story into mundane or tinkered items, further increasing their capacity.

And his risk.

Reuben is a bit of an oddity for The Wylder; a dedicated monster slayer who has managed to grow a bit long in the tooth, (despite, as some would say, his best efforts). A seasoned swordsman, this elderly Stuffkin’s trajectory was altered drastically with the loss of the master duelists & mentors that were dear to him at the hands of monstrous magic. Reuben has since dedicated his life toward pushing cold steel back into the hearts of the monsters responsible for breaking his own. After years alone at his post, Reuben seeks greater closure and a team of friends that can help him achieve his swan song and finally avenge those he’s lost over the years.

Shoal is a swarm of hive-minded larvae-like creatures; forced from their hibernation and traveling the land lost in a stupor.

Something is not right. The rest of the hive… is separated. Missing.

Lost.

But, thanks to a kindly mentor, Shoal has adapted to their present predicament tenaciously, (if not gracefully). Kind and helpful in a world where both are in short supply, their naïveté’ and appearance marks them a target for the unscrupulous. With the help and guidance of true friends, Shoal hopes to find their purpose within this wacky world.

Dryads are an uncommon sight to most folks in The Wylder, Urban Dryads even more so, but that doesn’t stop Rayna from leaving a lasting impression on most everyone she meets! Her chipper attitude and BIG personality go a long way in hiding the fact that she is an Afflicted, one of the poor beings that have been cursed with a particular magical disease. Not one to let a silly little thing like a terrifying magical plague keep her down, Rayna is quick to find beauty in all things, (being a Dryad for city weeds will give that perspective!). She’s fiercely protective, and while she’ll never look to start any fights should one of her friends be in danger she won’t hesitate to finish them!
