
Episode 1:
Thrown in the Fray

Many miles into the wilderness that surrounds Toraigh sits an abandoned lumber camp, largely ignored except by those whose needs are entirely clandestine. Tonight a covert meeting is hosted by the mercenary guard known as the Enforcers; the privatized lawmen that keep the peace in the places abandoned by the formal government following the Red Night. 18 recruits have been assembled, blindfolded, and then divided into groups to prove their grit in a trial by combat.
One such group is composed of our player characters: Flynn, a Poppet Artificer, Ana, a Vampir Fighter, Rayna a Dryad Barbarian, & Shoal a Larvest Ranger win the combat and are introduced to their squad leader: Reuben Baxter, a Stuffkin Ranger.
Having proven their worth, our adventurers are given a task by the Lord Commander of the Enforcers, a gargoyle by the name of Winston Rochester. His instructions are demanding but simple: go undercover in the criminal underworld of Toraigh & ingratiate your squad with one of three known criminal factions:
The Gold’N Grin, an infamous pirate federation with a chapter operating out of Toraigh.
The Mongers, an informal organization made up of the various folk that work Toraigh’s Dock.
The Greybloods, the illusive thieves guild with cells throughout Dubcluain.
Their orders are to uncover critical leads that can be fed to the Enforcers in order to help them prevent major criminal incidents before they happen. Just as the party is getting into the details of the assignment an eavesdropper is uncovered hiding within the mill. Winston orders the squads to scatter and instructs Reuben's squad to kill the “spy” and burn the mill to the ground. Without missing a beat Shoal hurls a dart at the newcomer, killing him outright. However, as the toy duck dies his body begins to glow with an otherworldly energy and begins to exclaim in an ethereal voice that “The Depths will not be contained” just as his dead body splits and separates into a swarming mound of roiling, writhing eels.
