Artist Notes 6/10/2020: Hey guys, happy Tuesday…

…sort of anyway. The state of the world is still not great. Really not any better than it was last week. I’m glad that more arrests have been made in the case of George Floyd’s killers, and I’m happy to see Minneapolis is ready to make some decisive changes, and I’m happy to see so many people rallying around Black Lives Matter… But it’s only a start, we can’t allow this incremental progress to allow us to become complacent: Breona Taylor’s killers have yet to be arrested, we’ve seen horrible acts of violence against mostly peaceful protesters by people that we’re told are there to protect us, and many cities are going to be met with fierce resistance as they attempt to implement the structural changes that are desperately needed. The horrible acts of violence police are committing toward unarmed citizens at the protests are bringing the ugliness ever more out into the open… It’s disgraceful, and we can’t be silent about these issues ever again. Enough is enough. I can only hope that we continue to see progress.

But to move on to a positive note, I really enjoyed following the #drawingwhileblack hashtag on Twitter this week–I found SO MANY amazing artists! I hope people keep actively posting to the tag for a while, because I’ll continue to use it to seek out new artists to follow. I retweeted (and now follow) a ton of them on Twitter, and again, I encourage you all to do the same and show them some love.

Hope this coming week is better than the last.
