Artist Notes 6/12/2017: So today I have some really big announcements–which are also part of a Kickstarter update, so this’ll be redundant for some of you (sorry ^ ^’), but it’s exciting stuff!

First, I can finally unveil BOTH covers for MNM Volume 1! Backers can choose either cover, but Logan’s is a Kickstarter exclusive, so if you buy a copy of the book from us in the future through a convention (or whatever online method we choose, maybe Etsy?) it’ll have Esther’s lovely cover. 🙂 (Both covers will be printed in the book’s appendix pages though!) The other big update, that benefits everyone, is that I’m revamping the first 7 pages of the comic! We launched the comic with 20 pages almost a year ago and the overall aesthetic of it has developed and changed a lot over time, becoming much more cohesive as it’s gone on. An example: Early on the styles of panel dividers and shapes were all over the place but I’ve developed conventions since then. Pages are full bleed and panels have clean and simple dividers. I had fun doing more experimental things but ultimately I wanted to keep it simple so that things like changing panel divide styles wouldn’t get in the way of what’s most important: the story. So I’m updating them largely for consistency’s sake, but also for one more reason: As you all are finding out in today’s page, the town’s ransack-er isn’t who Betha had thought! Because Lynche is very, very dead… But you all read the opening, you know you didn’t see this big cyclops dude ransacking the town, you saw this guy. But I have need to redesign him since we’ll be seeing him again in the future–also part of my motivation do redo the opening scene.
